Fused Glass Art Release: Sunset Collection

One of my favorite things about living on the West Coast is how easy it is to explore the ocean, mountains, and deserts. I especially love the incredible sunsets, which have inspired my fused glass sunset scenes and landscapes that make up my Sunset Collection.

The millions of acres of coastline, mountain ranges, and deserts stretching the length of Oregon, Washington, and California make this western region of the United States perfect for enjoying sunsets from scenic vista points. Each sunset I’ve witnessed personally is reimagined and immortalized in my fused glass art and showcased within the Sunset Collection, and is a perfect way to share my love of the most magical time of day with all of you. I hope you enjoy them all!

If you follow my posts, you might already know that I start all my designs with tiny test tiles, or Artist’s Proofs. So, let’s start there.

The Artist’s Proof and 1st Edition Design of Suset Beach

In early 2024, I created a tiny artist proof showing one of my favorite places to enjoy a sunset, on the Oregon Coast (artist proof pictured above, left). I loved how it captured the brightly colored sky and haystack rock silhouette so much that I went on to make one for my art shows to ensure the variations in colorful glass frit would work in the larger design formats I wanted to create (1st edition pictured above, right). With its continued success, I created several new scenes showing sunsets with blue mountains and desert cacti silhouettes – some were custom-fit with a wooden LED backlit frame designed by my husband, Daniel Lucht, to best show off the sunset at night – and people loved them! I was so pleased with how the 1st editions of each scene turned out, and received so much wonderful feedback from admirers at my Summer and Fall art shows, that I decided to create 10 new works of art based on the three sunset designs that now make up the Sunset Collection – you can chose from Emerald Beach Sunset, Blue Mountain Sunset, and Desert Cacti Sunset designs in various sizes while supplies last!

The Sunset Collection

This group of 10 fused glass works of art all include our signature custom-made Kayu Batu wood frames and stands, a certificate of authenticity signed and numbered, and features a unique and beautiful sunset. These works of art were made using bits of glass known for changing color (striking) when fused. Much like a real sunset, it’s a bit of a mystery how the colors will light up.

Here’s a sample of these beautiful designs!

My lifelong artistic journey has been intertwined with my profound love for the natural world and brave entrepreneurial spirt. My artistic creations in both fused glass and sketch art offer viewers a vivid and textured glimpse into the beauty of landscapes, gardens, and the animal kingdom. I'm the proud owner and artist at Lucky Starz Studio where I fuse glass and make my artistic visions a reality. I strive to promote other artists in their journey and share the highlights and shadows of being an artist with everyone I meet. My core philosophy is rooted in the belief that art possesses the unique ability to inspire, heal, and deeply connect people. I believe creativity is within us all and is the thread that weaves our experiences to the world around us. When not immersed in the creation of my own art, I can be found hiking the trails of Oregon and the Pacific North West, exploring the natural beauty of the world through my travels, indulging in culinary delights, and visiting artists at exhibitions and craft fairs.
