Sunsets that light up the sky have been mesmerizing humans for thousands of years. This fused glass art tile was inspired by the colorful coastal sunsets that light up the sky and ocean. In coastal communities around the world, people gather at the beach each evening to witness the day’s display of brilliant light, colors, and reflection.
Glass art tile is 4″ x 4.25″. A custom Kayu Batu wood stand is included.
Handmade in Oregon, November 2024. This is the 2nd edition of this design and a member of the Sunset Collection.
To create this fused glass sunset tile I used many colors of frit, tiny pieces of colored glass. The colors chosen for this piece are called “strikers,” which means the color after fusing can be dramatically different than in its raw form. The end result is always a bit of a surprise, similar to the way a real sunset transforms the sky.
Each piece of colored Bullseye glass is carefully hand placed and layered in such a way that when fused together they melt to a soft textured image.
