Turtle Reef

Description

This fused glass design was inspired by Sea Turtle rescue efforts and reef restoration projects throughout the world. In the last couple years, Sea turtle numbers have risen in some areas due to the amazing work conservationists are doing to protect their habitats and keep these creatures healthy.

While visiting Maui earlier this year, I was snorkeling and came across a team of people helping a sea turtle who had been snared by a fishing hook. I spotted him swimming through the coral and rock formations just off the beach, and watched as rescuers brought him to shore, removed a large fishing hook and returned him to the water. I’m grateful there are so many people watching out for and protecting these animals.

This fused glass work of art was complicated to cut and design because of all its fine details, but it came out perfect and will bring joy to whoever takes him home.

Glass art tile is 8.5″ x 10″ and is set in a custom made backless Kayu Batu wood frame which is 10.75″ x 12.5″ x 1″ and includes a sawtooth hanger.

Each piece of colored Bullseye glass is carefully hand and layered in such a way that when fused together they melt to a soft textured image.
